Avista House is all about the astonishing view and the spacious living/dining room reflects that in its wall of full-length windows facing east over the cove with Fox Island and Great and Ship Island Bird Sanctuaries beyond. The room offers more than 1,000 square feet of space with stylish sofa and chairs - perfect for relaxing and watching the ever-changing spectacle in the bay. There is plenty of room to spread out round the handsome table in the dining area with its splendid ocean views. For cool evenings, there is an efficient fireplace insert in the living area as well as electric heating throughout the house.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped with dishwasher and every possible appliance for the discerning chef including a combined microwave and convection oven as well as a full electric range.
There is a separate laundry room with washer and dryer and a two-piece bathroom on the ground floor.
The study/TV room (9ft X 14ft) offers wireless internet connection, Cable TV and DVD as well as a range of books and guides. There is also a landline in the house.
Upstairs you will find the spacious master bedroom (12ft X 18ft), which has a queen size bed and the four-piece bathroom with a bathtub as well as separate shower stall.
The second bedroom (9ft x 15ft) has twin beds that can be put together on request to make a king size bed.
The third bedroom (9ft X 14ft) has a single bed. All the bedrooms have lots of light, interesting pitched roofs, bedside tables and reading lamps. There is a wardrobe and chest of drawers in each bedroom.
Bed linen and towels are provided.
Throughout the house you will find outstanding art and crafts sourced in Newfoundland and capturing the unique heritage and culture of the island.
You will find Powers convenience store on Highway 10 at the top of Tors Cove for all your basics. Ten minutes drive will bring you to a well-stocked supermarket, NLC (liquor store) and gas station at Bay Bulls. All the major supermarkets along with excellent local food shops are 45 minutes away in St John’s.
